7 Impossible Things
June 8th
John Teniel
Courage comes in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes the courageous thing to do is walk away and sometimes it’s to stand up and fight. Courage is not an absolute, is the point. Very few of us could say what we would do in any given crisis. We know what we would want to do, what we hope we would do, but we have no way of knowing exactly what we will, when it comes to crunch time.
So how do we build up our stores of courage? Should we, like the Queen in Through the Looking Glass, train ourselves to do seven impossible things before breakfast? Should we dare ourselves to face a fear; to stand on the edge of a cliff or kiss a snake? Of course not. What we need to do is live our normal “boring” lives with true courage: never backing down when the right thing is being ignored, never running away from what scares us. I don’t know about you, but I have plenty of possible things to work on before I tackle the impossible.
