Courage is…
May 7thWhat makes someone courageous? What causes one person to rise above their fellows as a shining example of all that is good? It has been argued that bravery is something learned, something mundane which can be instilled in anyone. Others have said that courage is the result a sudden epiphany- a moment when one knows what must be done, come hell or high water.
We at Ego Friendly would like to broker a compromise: Courage is neither the simple product of good upbringing nor the blinding flash of integrity: rather, it is a combination of both. Many of us test ourselves, in mental hypotheticals, on what we would do in certain situations but we all know that we won’t really know how we will act until the event is upon us. Courage is the ability to strive for the highest goal, to hope that we will act rightly and to endeavor to rise to the challenge when it is placed before us. Who can really ask for more?
