Courage is…

We keep telling you that Courage is facing off against not unknown odds, but known ones, that the truly brave person is one who knows the consequences of his actions and still acts. Does this mean that we at Ego Friendly don’t think it is courageous to blindly rush in, to suddenly do something, the outcome of which you have no idea? Yes, it does.

While the annals of history and folk-lore are full of just such tales, there are literally millions  of such stories that end badly. For every brave civilian who saved the life of his fellow through an unknowing act there are countless others whose actions have ruined the very lives of those they’ve tried to help. This is not to say that those people do not posses some level of goodness or luck, just that there is very little inherently brave in what they do. Courage requires that you have a sense of what your up against, that you have some negative force in which to be brave against.Someone who runs in to a burning building without thinking may sound like a good example of a “good” or luckyperson, but we all know that fire can hurt us, that fire is bad and that knowledge makes the person taking that action courageous, not merely good.
