The Courage of your Convictions
May 19thYou know what? I’m sick and tired of taking all this crap from you people! I work my fingers to the bone for this company and all I get in return is the same disrespect day after day. That’s it, I’ve had it. I’m through. Good-bye.
How many times a day do similar thoughts go through your head? How often do you just want to tell a co-worker or a loved one off; tell them how they make you feel? How many times a week? A month? PWhatever your answer is, it is the rare lucky person who never feels this way. So why not do it? Are we cowards for keeping our mouths shut and getting on with life?
Courage is not, despite the popular saying, just another word for stupidity. Courage is about knowing when to pick your battles as much as it is about fighting the battle you finally choose till the bitter end. So the next time that strident voice in your head starts mouthing off, swallow your tongue, smile at your co-worker and remember the choicest phrases running through the back of your mind, you may just need them someday.
