The Outer Banks isn't about shopping. Not too long ago, even the basics could be hard to come by. Still, on Hatteras and Ocracoke, choices are limited, with no supermarkets or discount stores. In the Nags Head area there is a K Mart and a Wal-Mart and larger grocery stores. On the Northern Banks there are a variety of boutique shops. And, fitting the climate, there is a good selection of outdoors equipment.
