You May Say I’m A Dreamer…
June 7th- Joseph’s Dream
Dreamer, as a derisive term, is one of the oldest ones there is. In the Bible we find Joseph’s brother’s refer to him as “The Dreamer” right before they decide to sell him and, Gilgamesh aside, The Bible is the oldest written document we have.
So what is it about people who Dream that upset people so much? Well, since we mentioned Joseph let’s use that as an example. Joseph’s brother’s weren’t upset so much because he said he would rule them, what bothered them was that he seemed to be saying that it was pre-ordained; that they and their father would bow to him no matter what they did to stop him.
Nothing upsets people more than a dreamer who acts as if he can accomplish his goals with no effort. And that’s as it should be. Dreams, for those of us not Divinely Inspired, are nothing more than hopes or plans. It is only through hard work and effort that we can make them happen. So rather than shoot your mouth off about what you’re going to do, and maybe ending up sold to a bunch of Midianites, just get to work on accomplishing those dreams!
